A creative and beautiful Japanese-style confection born of a unique evolution of the sweet jelly of adzuki beans.

A new development of Umezono, a sweet parlor famous for mitarashi-dango, skewered rice dumplings in a sweet soy glaze. The specialty of this store is an azuki bean jelly formed with kanten gel and a type of bracken-starch named Kazarikan. Fruit flavor is included in the kanten gel, and topped with fresh cream and other ingredients. Kazarikan using seasonal fruits such as sakura in spring, mango in summer, grape in autumn, and apple in winter are in the lineup throughout the year.

Lemon and framboise (320 yen each) have an excellent balance of a smooth feel on the tongue and a fine fruit flavor. Lemon is topped with fresh cream, roasted tea, and dry lime. Framboise has an added accent with a sweet white paste made from white beans, pistachios, and yuzu citrus.

The building is a renovated townhouse more than 100 years old, and the 2nd floor is used as the eat-in space. Preserving the good old atmosphere, it has been carefully arranged to create a relaxing mood.
