Born in Kyoto. Raised as the oldest daughter of a family with an antique store in Furumonzen, after marrying and raising children, she established a store in Furumonzen, Kyoto in 2008. Moved to Gion, and opened an antique store Kou Kyoto in 2012.

Where is your favorite spot to stop by after work and so forth?

The unexpectedly delicious beef of Kyoto When I feel tired, I go to Nakasei, a store specializing in aged beef, to eat a hamburger steak. Their hamburger steak can be eaten with just salt because of how high-quality their meat is.

What is your best recommendation for small gifts from Kyoto?

Kasaneiro Kaban (bag) of Somenotsukasa Yoshioka founded in the Edo period. Although all processes are by hand, including the work of extracting colors from plants and flowers, the prices are reasonable. These are delightful items to receive, even if I already had a bag in other colors.

Where is your favorite place in Kyoto?

I often visit Kamogawa River to walk my dog. Since Kyoto is a small town, I can look out across the city the best from around the Kojin Bridge in Marutamachi. It is a place where time seems to have stopped, and I love it there.
