Originally hails from Miyazaki City. A professional surfer working around the world. He is currently based at a surf shop in Nichinan City. He passed the JPSA professional trial at the tender age of 15, and presently works as a rider for Quiksilver as well.

Where is your favorite spot to stop by after work and so forth?

“Freedom Surfboard” on Nichinan Coast. I usually talk with Ryuichi Kawabata, a shaper, and his son Shohei, who is a professional surfer and a shaper, about waves and boards.

What is your “soul food” that evokes good memories for you?

“Obiten (deep-fried cakes of ground fish)”, a local specialty of Obi Area, Nichinan. The subtle sweetness is habit-forming. I always eat after surfing, and the Obiten I eat at such times is exceptionally good!

What is your favorite beach?

There are good waves at Umegahama Beach in Nichinan City when the west winds combined with the southern rolls blow at the mouth of Hiroto River. The water is crystal clear, and it is a place where I practiced surfing since I was very young.

How did you feel when you used the Canon EOS M10 to take these pictures?

The touch operation makes it easy to focus whenever I want to use it, so even I, who is not used to operating cameras, could take cool pictures easily!
